Supposedly, Zerner (now a lawyer) was a guest Screamfest, found out the name was not copyrighted, copyrighted the name, sold it to anther convention and then threatened to sue the original Screamfest if they used the name. If its true, a real dick move. Wow that's ridiculous.

I'm sure you all try to get different guests every year, but I attended Crypticon '08 and got a chance to chat with James Duval and Michael Berryman and honestly, they were both so cool I think it would be great to see them again.
Ken Foree is probably my top choice for potential guests this year.
Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton and Bruce Abbott would be very cool--a nice little Re-Animator reunion (get Foree and you'd have From Beyond covered too).
I love the above suggestion of getting chunk of the cast of Return of the Living Dead: Clu Gulager, Don Calfa, James Karen, Thom Matthews, Linnea Quigley and Miguel Nunez, maybe even the big guy Dan O'Bannon himself. I bet he'd be an excellent guest for a Q&A session.
And, if she's available, I'd love to see Angela Bettis; I think she's one of the finest young female actors of our time.

I second Angela Bettis. I think May is criminally underrated, easily one of my top 5 of this decade.
I also have to agree with all the ideas of some kind of reunion. If there's one thing I've felt was missing from past years it's a kind of "theme" to the show. I love a good cross section of guests as much as anyone else but it's also really cool to have a group from one of your favorite movies at a show too.
I was also thinking, since the show is in Bloomington is there any chance of arranging something with the theater at the mall to have some 35 mm screenings? Because that would be awesome.

That's a great idea about the movie theater. Is it near the hotel that the convention is going to be at?

The hotel is within spitting distance of Mall of America. So it will depend on if MOA has an open theater and the cost of said theater.

;D ~ Sweet! Time to get going on guest lists already for 2009!!!
If a theme is possible...that would be really cool...a few ideas for themes I would love to see are: Halloween - as many Myers as possible would be awesome! Hellraiser - a collection of Cenobites would be sweet! Nightmare - the original cast & slasher from The Nightmare On Elm Street movie would be spectacular! Leather face - the actors who portrayed Leather face & his fam would be tight to meet & greet! Jason - a tribute to the original tough guy himself from all of his films would be really cool!
If more or a variety is being looked into...then breaking away from the themes I would like to see the following characters: ** Any of the slasher actors from the above listed themes would be a plus ** Linda Blair - Regan from the original Exorcist film Jonathan Breck - The Creeper from the Jeepers Creeper films Bruce Campbell - most known for Ash int he Evil Dead trilogy (if you mention supporting independent horror films, you'd have a better chance of getting him to the show) Tobin Bell - Jigsaw from the Saw movies Warwick Davis - the Leprechaun from the Leprechaun series of films James Brolin - George Lutz who plays the dad in the original Amityville Horror film Brad Dourif - Charles Lee Ray also the Voice of Chucky in the Child's Play movies Harvey Stephens - Damien from the original Omen movie Seamus Darvey Fitzpatrick - Damien from the remake of the Omen movie
There's probably more that I can think of would be really cool to meet...but for now...that's what comes to mind. I'm already all excited for Crypticon 2009!!!

I just realized that 2009 is the 30th anniversary of the original Phantasm so that would make a Phantasm reunion that much cooler!

Another actor just occurred to me: Yaphet Kotto. I watched the early 70's exploitation/dark comedy Bone the other day, and thought "man, now there's an actor who might have some interesting stories."
He does have a pretty significant connection to the horror genre: he played Parker in the movie Alien. He was also in Freddy's Dead and The Running Man.

Joe Bob Briggs would be cool. I remember his old show was great! Plus he had a bit part (deleted scene) in one of my all time favorite movies Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2!!
