Anyone else out there get into horror on the page before you got into horror on the screen?
How about this one: Anyone have a memory of a book or short story that scared you senseless as a kid?
When I was in sixth grade, I read "The Boogeyman" by Stephen King and couldn't bring myself to look at my closet all night.
The Scary Stories books left their scars as well. I think a lot of that was due to Stephen Gammell's illustrations.

I loved those Scary Stories books when I was younger. I remember some picture of a woman without any eyes freaking me out haha

I remember getting Salem's Lot from a neighbor for Christmas when I was a kid. For some odd reason, my parent's wouldn't let me watch horror movies with them, but they would let me read any Stephen King book back then. Lol.
